Myth #11 - Your doctor can identify and help you through carbon monoxide poisoning.  (Not Likely!)

Most physicians are unaware of the wide variety of symptoms that can be exhibited by exposure to carbon monoxide.  Low level exposure can produce flu-like symptoms (headache, nausea, lethargy, disorientation) in most people with CO poisoning. Since most CO incidents occur during the winter, these symptoms can be easily mis-diagnosed. Identifying the signs of carbon monoxide poisoning is critical for timely corrective action and the prevention of long term injury.

The CDC (Centers for Disease Control) has a program to brief medical professionals  on identifying the symptoms and the available treatments for carbon monoxide exposure.
