Myth #11 - Your doctor can identify and help you through carbon monoxide poisoning. (Not Likely!)
Most physicians are unaware of the wide variety of symptoms that can be caused by exposure to carbon monoxide. Low level exposure can induce flu-like symptoms (headache, nausea, lethargy, disorientation) in most people with CO poisoning. Since most CO incidents occur during the winter, these symptoms can be easily misdiagnosed.
The CDC (Centers for Disease Control) has a program to brief medical professionals on identifying the symptoms and the available treatments for carbon monoxide exposure.
